   I was rather less satisfied with this model, compared with the more accurate BD model of Spitfire Mk 1 P9398/KL-B that I already own (with which I was very pleased). For example, the depiction of what is visible of the BMW 801 engine through the nose cowling shows apparently a front row of 9 cylinders (when in fact there should be 7 in each row) and no sign of the 12-bladed fan that should be in front, just behind the propellor. (Maybe it was meant to represent the 802 version, which was never fitted to this aircraft, or even a Wright Cyclone!)
   By the way, this particular A-3 , ‘Black 3’ of 14/JG 5 was piloted by Hans-Gunther Kleemann when it was lost in Oct 1943 after running out of fuel.
